Men’s 40 Division – ETC18
Countries entered: Belgium, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Jersey, Luxembourg*, Middle East*, Portugal, Switzerland, Wales
Defending Champions: Wales
With 11 teams entered in the M40s Division, this is the first time an overage division has been the largest (equal with the Men’s Open) at a European Championship; whilst the Middle East joins us as an invitational team and Luxembourg ineligible for competition points, this division is promising to be highly competitive. This is largely attributed to the fantastic development a range of NTA’s are doing to develop overage players, but also Open’s Players which is starting to push players who are old enough into the overage divisions much earlier than previous years.
Wales will be looking over their shoulder as they look to successfully defend their European Crown in 2018, with France, England and Scotland all expected to be genuine title contenders. The division promises to be full of excitement with a number of ‘unknown quantities’ entering the division to provide an unpredictability as what the table will look like at the conclusion of the Round Robin phase.
The M40 Round Robin taps off at 10:00 on Wednesday 18th July on Field 8 – make sure you get over to watch the game between France V Switzerland. The first game in the M40 Division to be broadcast on the live stream will be at 16:40 between on Ireland V Italy on Field 1.
