Having hosted the first European Championships in Halifax 1996, England Touch entered a record number of participants into the 2011 Touch World Cup event, boasting 120+ elite players in its ranks spanning the 8 teams, reflecting the growth and popularity of the game in England across all age categories. England is currently ranked joint 2nd in the world, following the 2011 TWC.
England Touch are committed to securing the long term future for the sport, from grass roots through to elite level adopting the pathway and progression development areas depicted below:
England Touch host the popular National Touch Series (NTS), which brings together Touch events from across the country into a co-ordinated series, allowing teams to test themselves against the best in the country. Since its conception, the NTS has provided a bridge between local leagues and international Touch, exposing players and referees to a higher level of competition, thus strengthening the game in England. Teams from all over the UK and Europe attend these events, as they’re classed as the most prestigious and high quality national Touch events teams can compete in. As can be seen above there are exciting times ahead for the sport of Touch in our country with a growing number of opportunities for all players to participate and develop their game.
